James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer introduces the Ash People, Jake Sully’s new enemies, ahead of its December 19, 2025 release.
First Trailer of Avatar: Fire and Ash Reveals Pandora’s Fiery New Battle

🔥 Disney has released the first official trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron’s third epic in the blockbuster franchise, set to premiere on December 19, 2025. The film promises dazzling visuals, fierce new battles, and emotional depth as Jake Sully returns to defend Pandora.
🌍 The trailer unveils two new Na’vi tribes — the Wind Traders and the Ash People, the latter led by the fiery and fearsome Varang (Oona Chaplin). Allying with the ruthless Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang), Varang’s army is seen setting Pandora’s lush forests ablaze. In a chilling moment, Varang declares: “Your goddess has no dominion here.”
🎤 At the 2024 D23 Expo, director James Cameron teased a breathtaking yet emotionally intense journey:
“You’ll see a lot more Pandora than you’ve ever seen before… It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but also carries higher emotional stakes than ever.”
💔 The story follows Jake and Neytiri as they cope with the loss of their son, Neteyam. Their family joins forces with the Metkayina to confront the Ash People and prevent Pandora from being consumed by fire.
✨ The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Stephen Lang, and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss. Newcomers include David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh, with Oona Chaplin headlining as Varang.
⏳ Cameron confirmed that Fire and Ash will run longer than Avatar: The Way of Water (3 hours 12 minutes). He explained:
“We had too many great ideas packed into act one of [The Way of Water]. This time, we’ll dive deeper into the characters — even if it means a longer runtime.”
💰 The stakes are massive. Avatar (2009) remains the highest-grossing film ever with $2.9 billion, while The Way of Water (2022) ranks third at $2.3 billion. With such a track record, Fire and Ash is expected to dominate the holiday box office.
🌌 The saga continues: Avatar 4 is scheduled for December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 for December 19, 2031 — with Cameron set to direct them all.
⚡ With new tribes, stunning visuals, and sky-high emotional stakes, Avatar: Fire and Ash is shaping up as 2025’s most anticipated cinematic event.
